English Department's Review Features Pulitzer Winners Among Others
The inaugural issue of
The Cincinnati Review
is a must read! A previously unpublished essay by former poet laureate Randall Jarrell and works by best-selling author Mary Karr and Pulitzer Prize winners Carl Dennis, Robert Olen Butler, and Henry Taylor are just a few highlights in the new University of Cincinnati-based literary journal.
Nicola Mason, managing editor, describes the magazine as "a journal of literary excellence, publishing poetry, fiction, reviews, and essays by new and established writers from across the country and abroad." Assistant Professor Brock Clarke serves as fiction editor, and Professor Jim Cummins, also curator of the Elliston Room, is poetry editor.
The magazine will come out twice a year, in May and November, and a year's subscription is being offered at an introductory rate of $9.00. Beginning in September 2004, unsolicited manuscripts will be considered for publication. In addition to showcasing authors at various stages in their careers, each issue also features a portfolio of full-color artwork by a local or national artist.
