UC Students and Faculty Organize Benefits for Tsunami Victims
In addition to the university-wide campaign to provide immediate financial relief to tsunami victims in Africa and Asia, the Division of Student Affairs is working with student organizations, including Student Government, to coordinate several projects related to disaster relief. Furthermore, UC College of Medicine faculty also organized a benefit for a medical aid organization.
Benefits Underway:
Penny Wars
College of Applied Science
Through Feb. 28
Ten large jars filled with copper, silver and green (coin and bill money) near the coffee station on the second floor of the College of Applied Sciences Administration Building represent a payoff for the victims of the January tsunami in Asia and Africa. Ten departments of the college are waging a penny war that began Feb. 1 and continues until Feb. 28. Pennies dropped into ones own departmental jar means a point scored for ones own department. Silver coins or bills dropped into a departments jar means points are deducted for that department.
