UC Clermont's Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Inducts 45 New Members
UC Clermont College inducted 45 students into Phi Theta Kappa during a recent ceremony on campus.
Established in Missouri in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth, leadership and service programming. The UC Clermont College chapter, Alpha Iota Theta, was founded in 1983.
Words of encouragement to the new members were offered by members of the UC Clermont College administration including Peggy Chalker, assistant dean of enrollment and student services and Victoria Hammer, associate dean of academic affairs. Additional remarks were offered by Dearlyn Rosenfelder, Cincinnati District Representative for PTK.
At the ceremony each inductee lighted a blue candle and was given a white rose. Interim Chapter President, Rob Pairan, said the candle carried by each inductee represented knowledge and the white rose symbolized purity, the beauty of life, and intellectual associations.
A reception was held following the ceremony where the new members were greeted by family, friends, and PTK advisors. Phi Theta Kappa is planning several events and activities for the upcoming year. For more information, contact the UC-Clermont College chapter advisors, Bruce Davis or Bill Wise at 513-732-5200.
