Power Outage at Reading Campus Planned for Friday, Nov. 23

Maintenance & Operations advises that on Friday, Nov. 23, Duke Energy will have a planned power outage from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. to repair the substation supplying electric power to the entire Reading Campus. Emergency backup power will be operating during the outage.

Hinckley Elected President of AMPA

Bill Hinckley, MD, assistant professor of emergency medicine and UC Health Air Care & Mobile Care medical director, was recently installed as president of the Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA). Hinckley was elected to the role and will serve a two-year term.

A UC Cancer Institute lung cancer research team reports that lung cancer stem cells can be isolated and then grown in a preclinical model, offering a new avenue for investigating immunotherapy treatment options that specifically target stem cells.

Focus on Alumni With Mark Raaker, MSW

November 8, 2012

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Mark Raaker earned his master s in social work, with a concentration in children and families, from UC in 2008. While serving in the Army, he s kept in touch with social work faculty member Gary Dick, PhD. The two will work on a chapter together for Dick s upcoming book on fatherhood and have collaborated on other projects, including Raaker contributing a chapter on suicide and suicide prevention to a veteran's book that Dick is authoring.
