Nurses in Concentration Camps Topic for Lecture

The UC Department of Psychiatry and College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Center for Holocaust & Humanity Education at Hebrew Union College and the Ohio Humanities Council, will host a May 1 lecture. Roger Ritvo will speak on the roles of women who, with courage and ingenuity, served as nurses and caretakers in the indecent and horrific environments in concentration camps.

Pharmacy Dean Named Chair of FDA Advisory Board

UC Diet Study Published in National Journal

A recent study conducted at UC found that a low carbohydrate (Atkins) diet was more effective than a low fat, calorie-controlled diet for short-term weight loss. The study, is published in the April issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.

UC, Harvard Researchers Link PLN Protein Mutations to Heart Failure

Researchers at the University of Cincinnati and Harvard have newly published studies showing that mutations of the human PLN gene are linked to heart failure. The UC research, led by Litsa Kranias, PhD, professor of pharmacology and cell biophysics, appears in the February 26 edition of the Journal of Clinical Investigations.
