Engineering student aims to protect drinking water

For Jackson Quinn, the cooperative education (co-op) program is what drew him to the University of Cincinnati. As an undergraduate student, he participated in research, authored papers, and earned a master's degree in tandem through the Accelerated Engineering Degree (ACCEND) Program. Recently, he was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

In January, Hoxworth encouraged all donors to make it a habit to donate blood at least twice in the calendar year. You still have a chance to meet that goal in December and help save lives during one of the most critical times of the year.

Designing a fairy tale

Maura Kesterson spends her days, and most of her nights, sewing away in a space underneath Patricia Corbett Theater. “Pretty much anything you can do in the costume department, I’ve done,” Kesterson said. A lifelong seamstress and performer, Kesterson was crafty enough in her career choices to land her at the University of Cincinnati, designing all the colorful costumes for a grand opera, a retelling of the charming story of Cinderella. Kesterson is a master’s degree student studying costume design and technology at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music.
