UC College of Business will host a symposium on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on May 20 from 1:30 to 5 pm. Sarbanes-Oxley was signed into law in July 2002 with the intent of restoring public confidence in the accounting industry. How successful has it been? Given that we are approaching the three-year anniversary of the act, it may be appropriate to consolidate our experience and assess what it means for the future of the profession.

The C-Ring is an award given each spring to the outstanding graduating senior women at UC. Selected by a diverse committee of UC faculty, staff, students and alumnae, the winner is announced at the annual banquet, which will be Saturday, May 14 this year.

Conversely, Team USA, composed of the most individually talented players in the world, failed to win gold in the 2004 Olympics. How could this happen?

Elka Klein, assistant professor in the Department of Judaic Studies, died from ovarian cancer on March 28, 2005, at the age of 39. She leaves behind a family (including two young children) and a stunned college community. A memorial service was held on campus on May 11 in her honor.

Hundreds gathered on May 13 in the Great Hall in UC s Tangeman University Center to hear about and discuss the status of women and girls in the eight-county area around and including Cincinnati. The summit, which ran from noon to 6 p.m., presented many noteworthy speakers to an audience of Cincinnati s foremost leading women.
