The University of Cincinnati is using esports as an innovative platform to rethink enrollment in STEM-related majors and workforce development. In response to the popularity of competitive gaming among current and prospective students, UC opened its Esports Innovation Lab in August 2022.

Chris Postell, founder of the University of Cincinnati Esports Club and senior manager, strategic initiatives, conducted a non-scientific poll of UC Esports Club members on their favorite video games, many lesser-known but cult favorites. He’s added ideas of his own and included suggestions from browsing popular gaming sites like KeenGamer.

At the inaugural Pitch Fest inside the 1819 Innovation Hub, 100 University of Cincinnati students in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) showcased their academic abilities and skills gained throughout their degree programs. Audience members included 20-plus corporate executive partners of the Cincinnati Innovation District (CID).
