Bringing expertise to tech transfer in the UC Office of Innovation

Geoffrey Pinski joined the University of Cincinnati as a full-time employee in 2007, but that's just one milestone in his journey at UC. The son of a physics professor, Pinski first came to UC in 1987 when his dad was hired. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics with a minor in mathematics in 1992, followed by a Juris Doctor degree in 2006.

UC 1819 sewer tech startup makes a $7.5 million splash

A pioneering startup that emerged from the University of Cincinnati 1819 Innovation Hub’s Venture Lab pre-accelerator program in 2018, was recently acquired by global solutions provider IDEX Corporation for $7.5 million. Subterra, founded by Robert Lee, revolutionizes sewer and pipeline infrastructure monitoring through its innovative, AI-driven technology, which aligns with IDEX’s family of business solutions.

UC 1819 startup, Airtrek Robotics helps city lift off as innovation testbed

The City of Cincinnati made a bold leap into the future of civic innovation and UC Venture Lab-backed startup, Airtrek Robotics, was there to pilot the rollout. Councilmember Mark Jeffreys, in partnership with the University of Cincinnati’s 1819 Innovation Hub, and other Cincinnati Innovation District key players such as Cintrifuse, CincyTech and Alloy Growth Lab, officially launched “City as a Lab”—a city-wide initiative designed to position Cincinnati as a real-world proving ground for cutting-edge technology.
