UC donors power DAAP’s Fashion Technology Center

Tucked away on the sixth floor of the college’s iconic building, is the school’s innovative Evelyn G. Burgoyne Fashion Technology Center. Named for a generous benefactor, the futuristic center houses three labs for computer-aided design, textile innovation and apparel production. Within the center, plaques on machines remind users of the people who made the place possible — UC donors.

UC receives support from P&G Beauty to bolster inclusive recruitment in DAAP program

The University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) is partnering with Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Beauty division to increase diversity and inclusion in the design industry. P&G Beauty has created three funds to support opportunities for underrepresented minority students to study design at DAAP’s Myron E. Ullman, Jr. School of Design.

Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure is Oct. 17

Gary Thompson was a giver. Whether he was volunteering at church, traveling to Haiti to help after an earthquake or simply dropping off his signature chocolate chip cookies at a friend’s house, his generous nature defined him. His family and friends will honor his memory at the 12th annual Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure walk/run at Sawyer Point in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 17. The event raises funds for research at the University of Cincinnati Brain Tumor Center at the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute.

UC College of Engineering and Applied Science receives support from P&G to promote diversity and inclusion

The University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) is partnering with Procter & Gamble (P&G) to support diversity and inclusion programs at the college. The P&G Inclusive Excellence in Science and Engineering Fund embodies P&G’s commitment to giving back to the community, promoting diversity and inclusion in the engineering field while creating opportunities for careers in the industry as students understand the field.

UC Niehoff Center for Film and Media Studies flourishes first year after donation

While the COVID-19 pandemic put many things on hold, it didn’t stop the needs or the creativity of University of Cincinnati students and the local film community. Thanks to a $2.8 million gift in 2020 from Peter A&S ’09, MA ’14, PhD, ’20 and Betsy, A&S ’11 Niehoff, progress at the Niehoff Center for Film and Media Studies has continued. Faculty and students have been able to move forward with community partnerships, research projects, equipment needs and internships, thanks to this support.
