Webb has been awarded more than $3M from the National Science Foundation and Department of Energy to fund multiple projects.

Amanda Webb, assistant professor of architectural engineering at the University of Cincinnati, is making strides to bring this to fruition. She has received three major awards from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy to reduce carbon emissions.

At the University of Cincinnati, students can enroll in the Global Technical Workforce course to gain professional skills that complement their technical engineering skills. Through the course, students are equipped with tools to contribute to the increasingly global and diverse work environment. Students are taught how to work in global teams and communicate interculturally and at the end of the course get the opportunity to put these skills to practice through a short study abroad trip. This year, along with faculty Eric Payton and Aimee Frame, two groups of students went to Germany and Ghana.

After earning her bachelor's degree in civil engineering at a premier university in Nigeria, Tolulope Odunola became fascinated by the world of hydrology and water systems and set off to continue her education in environmental engineering. She came to the University of Cincinnati for her master's degree, and the experience left such an impact she stayed for her PhD, working under the guidance of Patrick Ray, associate professor of environmental engineering. Odunola was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

More than 100 years ago, cooperative education (co-op) was invented at the University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering and Applied Science. Since then, UC has spent the last century fine-tuning and improving the program. The Global Research Labs Program is one of the most recent advancements in co-op opportunities for students.

After earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in Nepal, Sameer Pokhrel came to the United States to further his education. From an early age, he had a lifelong fascination with aviation. As an adult, he transformed this fascination into a career, pursuing a doctoral degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati's historic program. Here, he has succeeded in research, instruction, and was recently named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

College faculty, staff, alumni and industry professionals attended the event to witness the innovation that is created at CEAS.

University of Cincinnati alumna Emma Wilhelmus fell in love with engineering when she was in ninth grade. After taking drafting, architecture and engineering courses in high school, she set out to major in architectural engineering in college. Now, she is an engineering teacher at a local high school and hopes to inspire students.

Ground transportation has a substantial impact on the daily lives of humans. Sai Bonthu, a doctoral candidate of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Cincinnati, is working to develop a product that has the potential to accurately reduce traffic accidents. Currently, he is working on a grant with the Ohio Department of Transportation and was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
