UC Releases Comprehensive Report of University Police Department

The Exiger report serves as a roadmap for change to reform the UC Police. Recommendations to improve UCPD include enhanced training, policies to prevent bias, increased diversity, and establishment of Use of Force and citizen complaint review processes, among others.

In Unprecedented Move, UC Board Approves Policy on Policing Standards; Hires Independent Monitor to Oversee Police Reforms

October 20, 2016

The Board of Trustees has approved policy establishing six principles of policing to guide the reform of the UC Police Department. The Board also hired Exiger, a nationally renowned police monitoring firm with decades of experience in the criminal justice sector, to oversee the reform. Exiger will report directly to UC s Board and Interim UC President Beverly J. Davenport, and will serve as an external monitor for three years, beginning Nov. 1, 2016.
