Entitled "5 Classical Music Albums You Can Listen to Right Now," the article includes recently released performance recordings featuring CCM Associate Professor of Voice Elliot Madore and CCM Assistant Professor of Cello Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir.

CCM is home to an international faculty of dedicated educators who are also celebrated performers and arts professionals in their own right. The New York Times recently turned to one of CCM's performing arts experts to weigh in on the topic of what musicologists call "paratext:" words—or even illustrations—that composers sometimes leave alongside their musical notation, which musicians then need to interpret as they try to bring a composer's idea to life.

Four CCM faculty members were recently highlighted in a New York Times roundup of notable new classical music albums. Entitled "5 Classical Music Albums You Can Listen to Right Now," the article spotlights the new album of Beethoven's string quartets performed by the Ariel Quartet, which has served as CCM's string quartet-in-residence since 2012. The ensemble is comprised of four CCM faculty members: Alexandra “Sasha” Kazovsky, violin; Amit Even-Tov, cello; Gershon Gerchikov, violin; and Jan Grüning, viola.

New UC College-Conservatory of Music Dean Pete Jutras, PhD, recently sat down for an interview with Cincinnati Business Courier contributor Janelle Gelfand. Jutras discussed his professional background, and he also discussed CCM's strengths as a preeminent center for performing and media arts education “Students get a real opportunity [at CCM] to start doing things right away,” he explained. “And they do 1,000 performances a year. It's an amazing ecosystem to be around.”

Cincinnati Magazine recently interviewed theatre aficionado Kirk Sheppard, who publishes reviews of local productions on his Sappy Critic website. When asked about his favorite show of 2024, Sheppard singled out the UC College-Conservatory of Music's February 2024 production of Little Women: The Broadway Musical.

Since graduating from UC's College-Conservatory of Music, Spencer Lackey (BFA Acting, '17) has established himself as a buzz-worthy creator of short-form horror content. Lackey's TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channels have attracted millions of followers and his work has increasingly caught the attention of entertainment industry insiders. Now, his career may be entering an exciting new phase: The Hollywood Reporter recently named Lackey as a potential "next big thing in the horror space."

The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) recently appointed CCM alumnus Chandler Johnson (BM Voice, 2016; MM Voice, 2018) as the seventh Artistic Director of the Dayton Opera. He will begin a three-year term on July 1, 2026.

CCM alumnus Charles Peck (MM Composition, 2012) was recently named the winner of the 2026 Kreitler Commission Competition. The competition, which is open to composers of any nationality and age, is organized by Summermusik with resident ensemble Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra in partnership with Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in North Carolina and Reno Chamber Orchestra.

In a question-and-answer article featured in the magazine's July 2026 issue, Jackson-Moody discussed a variety of topics ranging from MTV's initial influence on her fashion sensibilities to her professional approach to costuming.
