Uc College-Conservatory of Music Professor of Piano and Artist-in-Residence Awadagin Pratt spoke to the Cincinnati Business Courier about his aspirations to diversify the arts industry by encouraging the next generation Black American pianists. Pratt was one of three recipients of the 2021 Sphinx Venture Fund, generating an award of $100,000 to kick-start the biannual Nina Simone Piano Competition beginning summer 2023.

The CCMONSTAGE Orchestra Series presents the musical talents of faculty and student artists in the CCM Philharmonia’s Faculty All Stars concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at Corbett Auditorium. The performance features faculty artists Michael Chertock, piano; Michael Mergen, trumpet; and Catharine Lees, viola, and is conducted by Kevin Michael Holzman with music direction by Mark Gibson.

View digital programs for upcoming CCM performances

Beginning this fall, the UC College-Conservatory of Music will offer digital programs for all of its free and ticketed events in place of printed programs. These paperless programs will be available on CCM's website, and they can also be accessed via smartphone or mobile device by scanning the Quick Response (QR) code displayed outside of each CCM performance venue. Programs for ticketed events will be shared closer to each specific event date.

CCM Piano student wins second place at NFMC Competition

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is proud to share that one of its current master’s degree students, Robert Brooks Carlson, won second prize and $5,000 at the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Young Artist Competition. Carlson studies with CCM Associate Professor of Piano Soyeon Kate Lee, who was recognized earlier this year with UC’s Mrs. AB Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching.
