Uc College-Conservatory of Music Professor of Piano and Artist-in-Residence Awadagin Pratt spoke to the Cincinnati Business Courier about his aspirations to diversify the arts industry by encouraging the next generation Black American pianists. Pratt was one of three recipients of the 2021 Sphinx Venture Fund, generating an award of $100,000 to kick-start the biannual Nina Simone Piano Competition beginning summer 2023.

The Cincinnati May Festival has announced the appointment of CCM student Matthew Swope as its Choral Conducting Fellow for the 2021-22 season. A first-year student in CCM's choral conducting doctoral program, Swope previously served as the director of choral activities at Winter Park High School in Orlando, Florida. He was recently awarded second place in the high school chorus division of the American Prize Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting.

The Amplified Voices series at UC's College-Conservatory of Music presents its first event of the 2021-22 season on Monday, Nov. 22. CCM Oboe Professor Titus Underwood will present his movie, A Tale of Two Tails, with CCM alumnus Titilayo Ayangade (BM Cello, '14), who served as Director of Photography for the project. Internationally respected and award-winning artist/poet Annie Ruth hosts a program of entertainment and inspiration in "Dada Rafiki: Conversations," streamed virtually on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. Presented in collaboration with the Cincinnati Arts Association, Cincinnati Opera and the Power of Her, the annual event is a multi-sensory artistic experience of dance, music, poetry and song. It shares the empowering stories of inspirational women who positively impact the community, including 2020 Dada Rafiki Honoree Anne Cushing-Reid, Interim Director of Preparatory and Community Engagement at UC's College-Conservatory of Music.
