There is a NEW screening method for iron levels. Hoxworth is beyond excited to announce that we have switched to the OrSense device, similar to a blood pressure cuff for your finger, which measures hemoglobin. Not only is this more comfortable for the donor, it also is more cost effective and eliminates biohazard waste.

2024 MacArthur Fellow Ruha Benjamin to speak at UC

Renowned scholar, writer and educator Ruha Benjamin will visit the University of Cincinnati on March 7 to deliver the Taft Research Center’s annual keynote lecture. Benjamin is a sociologist and a professor of African American Studies at Princeton University. She also holds the position of the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of African American Studies at Princeton, and is the founding director of the Ida B. Wells Just Data Lab, and an award-winning author.

Finding support and friendship: My journey with UC's iLEAD program

Starting my journey at UC College of Nursing was nerve-wracking, especially being far from home and friends. But when I joined the iLEAD program, everything changed. The Learning Community (LC) provided me with a group of supportive peers and mentors who helped me navigate the challenges of nursing school. iLEAD connected us through weekly meetings, offering advice and building lasting friendships. Now, as an iLEAD mentor myself, I love providing the same support to first-year students, ensuring they know they are never alone. UC’s nursing program fosters a community where students help each other thrive, both academically and personally.
