Taking the Math Placement Test

Take this test online from anywhere with internet access.   The math placement test is accessed through Blackboard.  In order to be able to take the test, you will need to activate your Blackboard account.  Your Central Login Username and password are also your Blackboard username and password.  If you already have that information you can go directly to the Blackboard site at http://blackboard.uc.edu.

The use of calculators are not permitted on this test.  The placement test is timed for 50 minutes and is entirely multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer. The test will adapt to match your level of proficiency with each question you answer.  The questions are from the areas of pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-calculus.  This placement test is used to identify the math course that best matches your current mathematical skill.  Your math test results will be compared to your SAT or ACT math score; should there be a significant discrepancy you will be retested under proctored conditions.   All the scores will become part of your permanent academic file

Please remember, placement tests are used to place you in the correct beginning course.  You will not be successful if you are placed in a course for which you are not academically ready.

Academic Integrity

The University of Cincinnati has launched an ongoing Academic Integrity Campaign to educate students regarding academic integrity. The campaign emphasizes that character counts and integrity is important to academic excellence. Academic integrity provides the foundation upon which a flourishing academic life rests. It requires honesty. Academic dishonesty diminishes the University of Cincinnati as an institution and all members of the University community. For these reasons and more, academic integrity is an essential part of any true educational experience.

As new students to the University of Cincinnati, you are responsible for upholding the highest standards of honesty at all times, as well as adhering to the principles and spirit of the Academic Integrity Campaign. We ask that you acknowledge and honor your responsibilities while completing all placement tests, regardless of the location.
