Water research has always been an important element in UC’s academic and environmental portfolio. Our location and diverse streams of researchers allow us to take an integrated approach to address long-term threats to water as well as water management systems. From physical and chemical to biological treatments, we explore sustainable solutions to local, regional, national and global water challenges.
UC’s faculty research strengths include engineered water systems, storm water management, wastewater treatment, carbon and nutrient cycles, water quality, water resources, watershed hydrology, the interdependency of natural and urban water resources, the interaction between landscape and water, the societal and policy impact and feasibility, and large-scale sensing and data management. Through collaborative efforts, the Water Cluster Hires will complement our existing areas of expertise and bridge the gaps between them. This interdisciplinary effort will maximize the impact and secure the sustainability of newly developed technologies, practices and partnerships.
