2017 New Faculty Orientation

The 2017 New Faculty Orientation (NFO) has been designed to meet two main goals: welcome faculty to our community and provide them with much practical information and services on the spot. In particular, this year’s events focus on building academic community among new faculty and to the University, as well as providing easy access to professional development, HR, and campus services. Please Save the Date for the plenary sessions noted below, and our thanks to our many co-sponsors and partners in this event.

On Wednesday, August 16, 2017 all new full-time faculty are invited to Nippert to attend a morning plenary session designed to enhance their successful start at UC. In addition, full-time faculty will be able to register for benefits, obtain UC ID’s and Parking Permits. The afternoon plenary session invites all new faculty and includes welcome messages from President Neville Pinto and other senior UC leadership, faculty, and guest speakers. Following the plenary, faculty are invited to join UC’s Senior Leadership, Deans and VIPs for a reception.

On Thursday, August 17, 2017 all new faculty members are invited to attend teaching-focused sessions in the morning with the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CET&L) and the Center for Excellence in eLearning (CEel) and research-focused sessions with the Office of Research in the afternoon, with topics from Blackboard Basics
to grant-writing support at UC. Lunch is available for all participants. Additionally, CET&L, Office of Research and CEel staff will be available for one-on-one consultations to support specific faculty needs.

Beginning in late spring 2017 and throughout the summer, we will be sending NFO reservation information to all new UC faculty. To facilitate this, we will be reaching out to the colleges for new faculty information, including:

  • Last and First Name
  • Current E-mail and UC E-mail
  • College and Department
  • Title / Rank
  • Anticipated Start Date
  • Mail Code

Should you be in the process of hiring for the fall semester but have not made a decision, please use the position name for the first and last name, and we can update the information once a hire has been made.
