Adobe Products Expand
The UC Bookstores have Adobe products available at a discounted price. Please contact the UC Bookstores at 513-556-1700 for more information, and ask for CLP licensing and pricing.
Adobe Creative Cloud (for UC employees only)
For employees, the UC contract provides limited licenses for the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite. Please note, the Creative Cloud software may ONLY be installed on University-owned or University-leased computers. The Adobe Creative Cloud is a subscription based service, and as such there is a monthly charge of $13.67 per license. One license allows for installation on one computer. The Creative Cloud can be requested through the University’s GetIT online ordering portal. Installation of the software will need to be handled through an IT Manager. Once the order is processed, your IT Manager will receive an email with instructions for the installation of the Creative Cloud software.

Adobe Acrobat Professional (for UC employees only)
Adobe Acrobat Professional is available for $2.50 per month subscription. Licenses can be purchased from GetIT online ordering portal. Installation of the software will need to be handled through an IT Manager. Once the order is processed, your IT Manager will receive an email with instructions for the installation of the Creative Cloud software. This software and the associated serial number may ONLY be installed on University-owned or University-leased computers or networks.
We encourage users to learn more about this software by logging into UC’s Lynda.com site using your UC credentials. Once you have logged in, we recommend searching for the following course titles:

Departmental IT administrators are encouraged to review the Adobe Admin Guide and Adobe Customization Wizard to assist their departmental colleagues in the installation of the software. There are also instructions for installation of the software after you have downloaded it - one set of instructions for MAC and a set of instructions for Windows.
Ai Squared (Zoomtext) Expand
ZoomText is the world’s leading magnification and reading software. With its easy to use features, ZoomText makes computers accessible and friendly to low-vision users.
Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Installation on university-owned or leased computers is free for visually impaired, and the license does not expire. Installation on a student-owned computer is not covered under the site license program. Students may use ZoomText in the UCIT Computer Labs.

ArcGIS is an integrated suite of advanced GIS applications which includes ArcView, ArcEditor and ArcInfo. ArcEditor has all of the functionality of ArcView and more. Read more about ArcGIS and how to order.
Fact Mapper Expand
The "Fact Mapper" feature available on the Read &Write toolbar contains an extensive image library for use when creating fact maps.
You may also add your own images using the "Fact Mapper Image Uploader Tool." Images uploaded using this tool will be available for use by all copies of Read &Write running within your site.
3270 Emulator allows a Windows user to access the mainframe. Download the 3270 Emulator.
BI/Query, an enterprise Data Warehouse query and reporting application, requires software purchase and regular maintenance fees. You can learn more about UCIT’s BI/Query support services by reviewing the Applications and Websites page.
BI Web, a thin-client solution that provides Data Warehouse query and reporting capabilities over the Web, can be obtained by contacting the UCIT Help Desk at email@example.com or 513-556-4357.

Mathematica seamlessly integrates a numeric and symbolic computational engine, graphics system, programming language, documentation system and advanced connectivity to other applications. Read more about Mathematica and learn how to order.

MathWorks MatLab Expand
MathWorks MatLab Software Suite is a is a numerical computing environment that allows for manipulations, plotting of data, execution of algorithms and more.

Student software can be obtained for $99 per DVD at the UC Bookstores. For more information, please contact 513-556-1700 and select option "6". Students can also purchase and download directly from MathWorks. These licenses are perpetual and do not expire.
McAfee (Intel Security) Expand
UC has a Campus Agreement (CA) for Microsoft software products for departmental and home use for work-related purposes.
Currently employed faculty and staff are eligible to use software, and Emeriti may be entitled by volunteering to teach or perform work of value to the University, provided use is on a University owned/leased desktop/laptop. Those having entitlement, may also install the software on a personally owned computer solely for work-related purposes.
Here are some examples of those who are not eligible:
- Anyone enrolled exclusively in non-credit courses
- Companies, and their employees, who have been hired on a contractual basis for services on or off campus. (i.e., individuals not directly employed by University of Cincinnati)
- Conference attendees
- Retired faculty and staff
Department access - see below
Under terms of UC’s contract with Microsoft (i.e., Work-at-home rights), faculty and staff members, who are primary users of a University owned or leased computer, may acquire and install one copy of Microsoft Office on a home PC that they personally own or lease, but for work-related purposes only. Since Microsoft discontinued CD deployments, Microsoft Office 2016, a suite of applications including Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, etc., is not available in the UC bookstores, but this can be acquired at http://uoc.onthehub.com/. The cost is the same as what the UC bookstore previously charged or $9.95 but will be more if one acquires the CD as recommended for backup convenience.
If the University later upgrades the product, employees may upgrade the corresponding copy on the home PC. However, if the faculty or staff member leaves the University, the work at home rights for such member ends and the copy of the product must be removed from the home PC.
Microsoft Lync is the central Instant Messaging and Conferencing service for faculty and staff at UC. As a complement to the UCMAIL system, it offers these additional Unified Communications features for faculty and staff. Instructions for installing and using Lync can be found HERE
Departments are already licensed to install the software on all UC-owned or UC-leased systems. They may purchase media at the Bookstore Computer Shop. When requesting the software, please identify yourself as requesting the software for your department. This option is recommended for site coordinators, technical implementers, LAN and system administrators and others who may be installing software on workstations in their department. Such personnel are not authorized to distribute media to colleagues in their departments for home use.
Departmental KMS Activation for Windows Vista & 7, Server 2008, and Office 2010:
Two options are available at UC for activating the volume license bits of Windows Vista & 7, Server 2008, and Office 2010:
- The preferred activation method for machines joining Active Directory is to use the Key Management Service (KMS) server for activation. Machines not joining Active Directory can also use KMS. For KMS instructions click here.
- The alternate method for activating Windows Vista Enterprise Edition or Windows 7 is to obtain a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). The MAK will either be supplied with the media or can be obtained by contacting the UCIT Help Desk at email@example.com or 513-556-4357.
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise Software (departmental use)
UC departments, faculty and staff are pre-licensed for Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise Software.
You are authorized to download this software from this site below ONLY if you are a current employee of the University of Cincinnati. Once downloaded, this software and the associated Activation Key may ONLY be installed on U-owned or University-leased computers or networks.
Please review the installation instructions after you've downloaded the software.

Tableau Desktop is data visualization software that lets you see and understand data in minutes. When used in conjunction with the University’s Tableau Server, it comprises a complete business intelligence software solution. Tableau Desktop is typically used by data analysts or report authors to build and test visualizations prior to publishing them on Tableau Server. You do not need Tableau Desktop to view data visualizations that have been published to the server.
Faculty and Staff who are interested in building and publishing data visualizations are encouraged to try Tableau Desktop for free for 14 days. Downloads are available through the Tableau software page.

Tableau Server is a data analysis and publishing platform that lets you build, share and interact with web-based data visualizations and dashboards. The University of Cincinnati maintains a site license that allows all full-time and part-time Staff and Faculty to use Tableau Server at no charge.

UC Flex is the name of the integrated Financials and Human Resources business system implemented by the University of Cincinnati. UC Flex incorporates software from SAP, the world's largest vendor of integrated business systems.
