We are examining the long term spatial population dynamics and landscape genetics of the Rocky Mountain Apollo butterfly, Parnassius smintheus within a series of populations in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. We are interested in how landscape structure affects population processes. We are currently examining how these butterfly populations which are located at elevations above tree-line may be affected by a continued rise in the elevation of tree-line at our site.
