In order to help characterize the levels of lead in paint after actions have been taken to discontinue the use of lead compounds in the paint formulation, paints were analyzed in countries (e.g. Brazil and India) where such actions were thought to have occurred. A comparison of levels before and after the cessation of lead use was used to characterize the resulting residual levels of lead. An existing database of paint lead levels in ten countries was examined to determine the portion of the samples with concentrations similar to those in post-lead use paints. Other countries included in this project are Armenia and Kazakhstan.
