In this webinar, Blackboard's senior functional consultant, Cheryl Cyrus, describes how instructors can increase Student Engagement using social tools like discussion boards, blogs, journals and wikis. In the second half of the webinar, Cheryl demonstrates how to maximize the benefits of instructor feedback using inline grading.

 

About the Speaker

Cheryl is responsible for managing the implementation of course design, development and review services for the Blackboard Instructional Design and Development team. In this capacity, Cheryl is responsible for the overall scoping, planning and execution of the course development projects at Blackboard. Encompassing these projects, she also provides the functional product support for maximizing knowledge transfer to bring full understanding of Blackboard’s capabilities to the client. Her leading projects include USFSP, National University, SNHU and NCCU template design/course/faculty development.

Spanning over 25 years in instructional technology and education, her background includes being the State of Florida Department of Education Instructional Technology Specialist and Distance Education Director for Southwest Georgia College. Additionally, her experiences include University of South Florida Master Digital Educator Regional Coordinator (one of three in entire state of Florida); Lead Liaison for the Department of Education and Florida Digital Educator Program; FCAT Explorer Stem Writer/Editor and Development Team; University of Memphis Center for Research and Educational Policy, Grant Auditor; EETT Instructional Coordinator; Instructional Researcher/Observer, for proprietary Data Driven Action Research Instruments; University of Florida and University of North Florida: Laptops4Learning State Program Initiative, Coordinator/Mentor; Discovery Education, Educator/Advisory Board, Certified Trainer; and Quality Matters Certified Trainer and Reviewer. Cheryl has a Bachelor’s in Education and completed Graduate Studies in Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida.
