Meet Madison Bourbon, a University of Cincinnati staffer who helps harness the intellectual capital discovered at the university. Bourbon is a senior licensing associate for the Technology Transfer team in the 1819 Innovation Hub and is pursuing her master’s in molecular genetics, biochemistry and microbiology at UC.

In August 2022, UC opened the esports lab in the 1819 Innovation Hub. Since then, the lab has become a hub of activity, providing a home base for the UC esports club and a tournament venue for statewide esports programs, benefiting gamers and STEM students.

At a Cincinnati Innovation District (CID) career fair, Engelhardt met Jesse Lawrence, director of partner success at the UC 1819 Innovation Hub. While serving as a co-op student this spring, Engelhardt had the chance to blend his skills in operations management, research and software development to create customized solutions for strategic partners.

The Makerspace Intensive will take place June 5-16 weekdays in the 1819 Innovation Hub, 2900 Reading Road in Cincinnati.

Working with various materials from basic plastics to high performance composites, a range of objects from everyday practical items to awe-inspiring works of art can be made using 3D printers.

The buzz of excitement was evident on May 6 and 7 as 90 students gathered from nine participating high schools across the region and competed in the Southwest Ohio Esports Regional Tournament. The University of Cincinnati partnered with Esports Ohio to host the tournament at the UC Esports Lab inside the 1819 Innovation Hub.
