UC Expects to "Clean" the Competition in Energy Contest with a $10,000 Prize

The University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio (UCEAO) and NorTech are challenging college students to create a clean energy student business plan and compete for $10,000 in the 2013 Ohio Clean Energy Challenge. UC semifinalist teams, Effluent and Sustain-A-Watt (SAW) Energy Solutions, accept the challenge.

Alicia Berman Named Scholar Athlete of the Month for January

Between beating times in the pool and finding time for school, sprint freestyle swimmer Alicia Berman set the UC record for the 200-yard freestyle relay while also maintaining an impressive 3.7 grade point average. Her ability and drive to succeed in the pool and in the classroom have earned her the title of UC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for January.

Student Creates "Liquid App" to Advance and Increase Collection of Research Data in the Field

When UC environmental engineering graduate student Jacob Shidler traveled to the Comoros Islands last year to collect roof-harvested rainwater for his research, he also returned with an idea for an innovative mobile app to advance and increase data collection. He and a partner have now launched "Liquid Field Notes" software app for use by everyone from citizen scientists to academic researchers.

UC Expands Scholarship Support for Education Related to Robotics

UC's Office of the President and College of Engineering and Applied Science are increasing support for robotics education. In fall 2013, two new FIRSTĀ® Robotics Scholarships were awarded to incoming engineering students. Next fall, 25 such scholarships will be offered.
