During FY12, the UCAA’s
Regional Alumni Networks
collectively held 176 events (up
over FY11), which drew
attendees (up 54%).
Network events reflected the
diversity of our alumni family
and their varied interests,
including such engagement
opportunities as: A Cincinnati
Picnic in Dallas attended by
alumni, incoming freshmen and
co-op students; “Bearcats at the
Track,” an outing to Chicago’s
Arlington Raceway; A Night at
the Atlanta Symphony; a night
at the theater with UC alum Lee
Roy Reems in Sarasota, Fla.; a
Brewery Tour in Minneapolis; the
annual Central Ohio Golf Outing
in Columbus; Alumni Network
Kickoff Events in Louisville and
Charlotte; Bearcats away football
pre-game events in Knoxville,
Tenn., and at other away games;
an All-Ohio Networking Event
in San Francisco; game-watches
and a charity fundraiser in
New York; and Reds outings in
Chicago and at spring training in
UCAA hosted a Network
Leaders Conference in
conjunction with Homecoming
where 15 volunteers
shared ideas and best practices
to better engage alumni in their
home cities.
UCAA initiated “Light The
Night Walks” in 10 cities, at
which alumni gathered to
network while also supporting
the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society’s fight against blood
UCAA helped the Bearcats
celebrate New Year’s Eve at
the Liberty Bowl in Memphis,
coordinating activities for UC’s
traveling contingent of more
than 15,000 fans.
UCAA organized pre-game
events as part of the men’s
basketball BIG EAST Tournament
in New York, followed by similar
events in Nashville and Boston
as the Bearcats advanced to
the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet
Sixteen; these tournament
events drew 600 alumni and
UCAA created a Network
Leader Agreement to help
standardize activity and
assessment within the networks.
More than half of UC’s alumni live outside the Greater
Cincinnati area, so the UC Alumni Association uses a system of
regional alumni networks to “take UC to our alumni” across the
country and around the world.
