The Kuamka Extravaganza

Kuamka 2015

Kuamka is a Swahili term that means "in the beginning" and will be celebrates with a week full of exciting events beginning January 9, 2017!

The 18th annual Mr. & Miss Kuamka Extravaganza 2017, themed “Batte Cry" is sponsored by the African American Cultural & Resource Center. The theme was crafted to capture how we fight for equity and show pride through academic, personal and professional success.

This year we are happy to announce that we have 12 dynamic candidates competing for the title of Mr. & Miss Kuamka.  Each candidate has selected platforms ranging from the importance of mentorship, increasing dialogue for racial reconciliation, creating awareness & prevention strategies to reduce domestic and sexual abuse and the empowerment of black women to name a few.

The week's events will take place from Monday, January 9th through Saturday January 14th on UC's campus.  All events are free and open to the public.  For more information, please contact Ewaniki Moore-Hawkins (Director-African American Cultural & Resource Center) at mooreek@ucmail.uc.edu or 513-556-1177.
