Tyehimba Ceremony

We Stand As A Nation! 


Since its establishment, the AACRC has hosted an Afro-centric Graduation Celebration designed for graduates of the University of Cincinnati to acknowledge their achievements. The word "Tyehimba" means "We Stand as a Nation" and is not only a recognition of graduates, but an expression of thanks to faculty, staff, family, friends, and the community for their continued assistance in helping students make it to the finish line. The event includes drumming, dancing, call and response, a moving keynote and much more!  


Participation requires a small registration fee which includes your certificate, class picture, T-shirt, and Tyehimba graduation tassel. We can only accept money orders or cash for the registration fee. Personal checks cannot be accepted.

Students who have registered for Tyehimba will recieve further correspondence as spring graduation approaches. Money orders can be mailed to:

Please do NOT mail cash. Cash payment must be made in person.

An announcement will be made in the coming days for those who wish to volunteer for Tyehimba. Please contact the AACRC staff with any questions you may have.
