Coeus is a desktop computer application that UC will use for grant administration. It will combine all east campus and west campus grants into one central UC database administered by UCit.
UC acquired Coeus from MIT, where it was built and developed in the mid-to-late nineties. It is a fully comprehensive system that is used by many other universities around the country. Coeus is made up of many different modules that handle pre-award, post-award and budget information in addition to other information. Coeus was one of the first "cradle-to-grave" award management tools developed.
Fiscal year 2007 marked the kick off to using Coeus here at UC. Our Sponsored Research Services department began to use a Coeus implementation straight out of the box, implementing only a few modules. As we continue to streamline the grant administration process, Coeus will take on a bigger and bigger role throughout the university.
