$1 Million Dollars

While working in the investment research department at Bartlett & Co., an investment advisory firm, I had the opportunity to work on some of the coolest projects. My first two quarters of work were filled with projects that helped me learn the basics of the investment advisory business. Some of the projects included, sending a morning market update to portfolio managers, updating credit reports for Bartlett & Co. held companies, municipal bond high grade scales, corporate offerings lists, and voting proxies. When I came back for my second double section I asked my bosses if they would sponsor me to take the Series 7 exam. Passing the Series 7 makes you a registered representative of the NASD. I am happy to report that with Bartlett & Co. sponsorship, I studied for and passed the Series 7 to become a registered representative. On my third and final double section of co-op with Bartlett & Co., I had the opportunity to take on more projects with a higher level of responsibility. Some of these projects included, helping manage a portfolio worth more than $1 million, becoming Bloomberg Equity Product Certified, equity research covering the Leisure Products sector, and making buy recommendations to portfolio managers in the investment meeting. Co-oping has really helped me grow as a professional. I know that I wouldn’t have progressed half as far as I already have without the co-op program. I never dreamed that I would be entering the job market already Series 7 certified, Bloomberg Equity Product Certified, and with great investment finance experience. I definitely had the coolest projects at my co-op job.
