National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), historically African-American fraternities and sororities, refer to the process of new members joining as “intake.” These fraternities and sororities typically only have intake once a year, at their own discretion, and hold informational meetings for interested students. Typically, NPHC fraternities and sororities require new members to be at least sophomore status.
There is 1 “non-affiliate” sorority: Delta Phi Lambda (Asian-interest). There is also an Asian-interest fraternity interest group. This organization is considered non-affiliate because it is not a part of IFC, CPH, or NPHC, and typically does recruitment or intake at their own discretion.
