The University of Cincinnati’s Meet Me on MainStreet Celebration picks up the beat with artists Talib Kweli and Common at a special outdoor concert starting at 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, on Sigma Sigma Commons. Also make plans for the pre-concert cookout from 6-8 p.m. on Sigma Sigma Commons. Both events are free and open to the public. UC will offer a $3 parking rate in all garages from 5-10 p.m. on May 19.

UC’s “Meet Me on MainStreet” celebration highlights the completion of a thriving corridor through the heart of campus where people can learn, work, play and stay. It’s a celebration that highlights UC|21 strategies to establish a sense of place on campus by offering exciting programs that bring people into the pedestrian-friendly MainStreet corridor.

Common is a Chicago-based hip-hop artist of the albums, BE and Electric Circus. Talib Kweli, formerly of the group Black Star, went solo in 2002 with Quality.

The outdoor concert is sponsored by UC’s Program and Activities Council (PAC), MainStreet, Student Government, Sigma Sigma, Ethnic Programs and Services, the African-American Cultural and Research Center, UC Bearcat Advertising and Networking Group, United Black Students Association, UC Student NAACP, the Cypher, CECH Tribunal and UC RallyCats.
