CCM Featured on the September 20 Edition of CBS Sunday Morning
The CBS news program celebrates CCM's All-Steinway School designation.
In November 2008, CCM made history by making the largest ever unit purchase of pianos – 165 instruments in all from Steinway & Sons. Premier Pianos, Greater Cincinnati's only local authorized Steinway dealer, facilitated the agreement. According to Steinway, fully 98% of all pianists performing with orchestras last year chose their pianos exclusively. With the "All-Steinway School" designation, CCM students and faculty will have the opportunity to perform and practice on the instruments they will encounter most frequently on the concert stage. Click here for more information on CCM's historic purchase. Pianopalooza marked the formal debut of CCM's new collection of Steinway concert grands. Performance highlights included all six pianists performing Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra, led by conductor Mark Gibson. CBS Sunday Morning airs from 9–10:30 a.m., Eastern. The Friends of CCM will also be hosting a special viewing party on Fountain Square beginning at 9 a.m. on September 20. Coffee and donuts will be served and the segment will be simulcast live on Fountain Square's jumbo-tron. Please visit CBS Sunday Morning's official website for local air times. About CCM The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is recognized internationally as one of the leading conservatories for the performing arts and electronic media. CCM also is the largest single source of performing arts events in Ohio with an annual calendar of nearly 1,000 performances and presentations, ranging from solo recitals to full-scale opera and musical theatre performances. Visit www.ccm.uc.edu for more information. About Steinway & Sons Since 1853, Steinway pianos have set an uncompromising standard for sound, touch, beauty and investment value. Handcrafting each Steinway requires up to one full year, and the result is an instrument of rare quality and global renown. Not surprisingly, Steinway remains the choice of 9 out of 10 concert artists, and it is the preferred piano of countless musicians, professional and amateur, throughout the world.
