The Department of Biological Sciences is celebrating Earth Day by holding its annual greenhouse plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23. The sale will take place at Zimmer Plaza outside of Rieveschl, unless it rains, in which case the event will continue inside Rieveschl Hall on the 6th floor by the elevators.

Orchids, cacti, organically grown herbs, aloe and coconut and banana trees will be among the many plants offered at the sale. Prices will range from $1-3 for herbs to $10-12 for the smaller trees.

Profits go to the greenhouse, which will purchase new plants for the facility and aid education and research. “We are looking forward to increasing out plant collection after we lost many plants in the big winter freeze the year before last,” says Theresa Culley, associate professor of biological sciences at UC.

The sale accepts cash and check.
