Applying to be a Resident Advisor involves more than completing an application and interviewing; applying is a process. While the position comes with great rewards, it also can be demanding at times. Our application process is designed not only to ensure that we get the best candidates for the position, but also to provide the opportunity to make sure the RA position is the best fit for you.
The 2014-2015 selection process begins in November when the RA selection website is updated with the new information the next year's staff. Information about the process will be distributed for promotion in mid-November with information sessions and applications going live in early to mid-December. Applications are due on Wednesday, January 15th. The process ends after spring break when candidates are notified of their selection status for the following academic year.
We understand you may have questions that are not covered within the application or on this website. As a way to help you obtain all the information you will need, we have designed information sessions across campus. A brief presentation will be followed by a question and answer session hosted by a member of the Resident Education and Development team. Each session will include: clarifying the RA role, going over common questions, training, the policy on outside employment, and finally, what to expect from the selection process. We've created some interview tips to help you succeed through this process.
