Welcome faculty and staff members!

Whether you're new to UC or a seasoned employee, we hope you'll find everything IT-related that you need on this website. And maybe a few services you didn't know we offered!

Antivirus software: You need antivirus software to ward off bugs and worms from eating away at your computer. We offer McAfee antivirus software free of charge for your protection.

Blackboard: We use a learning management system to help you keep up in most of your classes. You'll use Blackboard to communicate with your students, manage your bearcat card account, etc.

Computer repair: Note that we only provide desktop services for UCIT staff. If you need to find out who to contact about a computer problem in your area, visit the Help Desk page and open up the IT Coordinators list.

E-Classrooms: Many of our classrooms have advanced equipment to show powerpoints, videos, even record a podcast of your lecture. Learn more about E-Classrooms.

E-mail: UCMail is the official faculty and staff e-mail service at the university. It is a Microsoft exchange service, which means you can access it anywhere you have Internet access. And UCMail is more than just e-mail; you can manage and share your calendar, contacts, files, etc.—all within one product.

Emergency Text Messaging: We can notify you via text message in the event of a campus emergency or weather-related school closing. No spam - we promise - just critical information when you need it. Learn more about emergency text messaging.

File storage: Each student, faculty and staff member receives 1 GB (gigabyte) of personal online file storage space on UCFileSpace. Access it from anywhere in the world. Use it to store files, publish personal Web pages, or explore Unix and computer programming.

Gartner Research: We have an agreement with Gartner Research to allow the UC community access to their databases of technical resources.

Hardware discounts: We offer hardware discounts on certain computers, even those for personal use.

Help Desk: Our friendly Help Desk staff is available seven days a week at 556-HELP (4357). We'll do our best to answer all kinds of questions about your connectivity, phone, computer, software, etc.

Infrastructure & Design: The UCIT Telecommunications Standards (PDF) and the UCIT and Construction Management Project Procedure (PDF) documents are in place to provide design and installation guidance to the Architects office, Planning+Design+Construction and any telecommunications cabling contractors working on UC projects. These documents are intended to provide detailed information on the University of Cincinnati standards for passive equipment, infrastructure design, cable installations, and associated performance parameters. Internet Wireless: SecureWireless is the network staff and students use to get wireless access. If you need help connecting to SecureWireless, visit our website, contact our Help Desk or stop in to our Mobile Cats Wireless store on MainStreet for in-person services (Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.).

Mobile Phone: Need a mobile phone? We have a Mobile Cats Wireless store right on campus' Main Street currently offering Sprint service. Password Reset: Password Self-Service allows you to reset your password to any connected application without having to call the UCIT Help Desk.

Software: Don't forget to check out our software discounts before you buy elsewhere.

Stipends:  All wireless communication stipends are deactivated at the end of the fiscal year. A wireless communication stipend must be renewed annually via the renewal process in GetIT. This renewal process allows the employee and the department the opportunity to review the continued business need for the stipend and update any stipend amounts. Click the following link to view the stipend ordering instructions.

VPN: VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. This is how you can access UC systems when you aren't on campus. Most of the time, you won't need it because only restricted information and systems access requires VPN. But sometimes, you may need to access something from the library website or access a system that is only available to staff, students or faculty, and you'll need to log into the VPN.

Video Conferencing: Whether using your laptop or a video room, you can easily call others with video capabilities anywhere in the world. UC has a secure Gatekeeper, and a multi-point video conference unit for many sites to join one call at the same time. Recording and later playback or live streaming of the video call is also available. Electronic Classroom Support Services can assist with scheduling multi-point video calls.
