Kuamka is a Swahili term that means "in the beginning" and celebrates with a week full of exciting events. The 19th annual Mr. & Miss Kuamka Extravaganza 2018, themed “The Awakening" is sponsored by the African American Cultural & Resource Center. The theme was crafted to highlight the rise of a new generation of leaders and social change agents who will stand for justice and equality and who know that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Each candidate selects platforms ranging from the importance of mentorship, increasing dialogue for racial and cultural reconciliation, creating awareness & prevention strategies to combat bullying, to name a few.
The week's events will take place from Monday, January 8th through Saturday January 13th on UC's campus. For more information on the extravaganza please contact Ewaniki Moore-Hawkins (Director-African American Cultural & Resource Center) at firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-556-1177.
