Enjoy drawing with a medium that is unique in its simplicity, versatility and brilliant colors. In this introductory class, you will learn the basics of drawing with pastels, and we will be looking and learning from various artists about the structure and color of the human face and figure.

Pastel paints have been used by artists since the Renaissance to quickly apply rich, intense color to various surfaces without the need for paintbrushes, solvents, or a palette. The only supplies you need to produce a painting are charcoal pencil, pastel paint, pastel paper, and your fingers! The technique used to layer and blend the colors on a surface is what will make your creation come alive and shine. Professional grade pastels, archival paper, and any other supplies will be provided.
About Your Instructor
Kevin McCarty
Kevin has been a professional artist for over 40 years painting landscapes, portraits, and still life. Living and painting in Europe have been major influences on his painting style, as he obtained first-hand knowledge of the great masters.
