Stained Glass Classes


Making a stained glass piece is easier than you think! Your instructor will contact you for more information regarding location which should take place in their Mt. Airy studio

Classes are limited to 6 people. Some supplies are provided for you, other supplies must be purchased. Typical costs depend on the scope of your project and must be paid the day of the class (cash or check only accepted). Our instructor will discuss your project and the details of the work before your class to help you plan out the materials needed.

BEGINNING STAINED GLASS

$69 / One Class

Instructor: Mary Jane Riggi
Location: Mt. Airy Studio   

Making a stained glass piece is easier than you think and can bring an array of beautiful colors and light to your home. In this beginning class expert, Mary Jane Riggi will teach you the basics of building a Tiffany style panel using the copper foil method. You'll learn different types of glass, glass cutting techniques, grinding, foiling, soldering, and framing a panel. By the end of class, you will have completed your unique design in an 11"x17" panel (size may vary). Register early! Class is limited to 6 people. Plus supply fee (typically $60-120) payable to instructor.

HALLOWEEN THEME INTRO TO STAINED GLASS

Tools/supplies $35-$50 at day of class

Instructor: Mary Jane Riggi
Location: Mt. Airy Studio   

Learn to make a small Halloween themed stained glass design of 10-12 pieces, such as a witch, witch’s broom, ghost, or pumpkin. Learn the basics of choosing stained glass, glass cutting techniques, wrapping the glass pieces in copper foil (Tiffany method) and soldering. Enjoy “ spooky” treats with the class and take home your very own Halloween decoration made by you! Use some of the studio’s tools.  Supply fee ranges between -$35-50, due after class based on what products you purchase for your art peice. Class limited to 8 students so sign up fast!

INTRO TO STAINED GLASS

In this a 4-hour introduction to the art of stained glass we will be making a sun catcher or small panel using 5-10 pieces. Register early! Class is limited to 6 people.

MOSAICS

Instructor: Mary Jane Riggi
Location: Mt. Airy Studio

Turn a plain tray, tabletop, or panel into a working piece of art using various glass pieces, including your own broken cups and plates! In this beginning class, expert Mary Jane Riggi will teach you the basics of the direct mosaic method. You’ll learn tips on glass selection, cutting, gluing, and grouting. Please bring your own items to add to your mosaic design, or choose from interesting items available at the studio. Register early! Class is limited to 6 people.

LEADED STAINED GLASS CLASS

Instructor: Mary Jane Riggi   

Using the “old” method of creating a stained glass panel using lead channel, students will learn choosing a pattern, basic glass cutting techniques, leading techniques, assembling and soldering a panel together creating a “ work of art” up to 11” x 17”. Register early! Class is limited to 6 people.
