Emeriti faculty have been enormously generous to the University and the future students, the NEXT generation--both financially and in contributions of time. The list of donations made individually is long, and creative. The contributions made by emeriti is in the millions of dollars and continues to rise each year.

For example, our most recent past president, Terry Milligan began the Terence G. Milligan Endowed Undergraduate Scholarships in Clarinet in 2014. Any fulltime Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior currently enrolled as a CCM student with a major area of study or concentration in clarinet is eligible to apply for one of the two scholarships awarded annually. Each scholarship is worth $5,000 per student per year. These scholarships are enormously helpful to members of either the Wind Symphony or the Wind Ensemble clarinet section in CCM. Such scholarships are transformative for students and help relieve tuition costs.

In addition, Laura Kretschmer, who served for several years as Secretary of the Executive Committee, has partnered with her husband Richard to illustrate how the verb “giving” reflects both monies donated and service to the University and wider community.

Many of our Emeriti donate to the UC Foundation anonymously, but this tradition of “Giving” to help the University and UC students is inspiring and continues to be a highly valued component of our Mission. The Association has established two funds in the name of its membership: the Emeriti Activity Fund and the Emeriti Scholarship Fund. The Emeriti Activity Fund supports the programs, activities and events provided by the Emeriti Association for our membership. Our newest endeavor, the Emeriti Scholarship Fund, will create an endowment to support scholarships for underrepresented, first-generation undergraduate students (read more below).

If you have questions about making a donation to our latest scholarship funds or you wish to set up a scholarship in your name or to honor another person or a specific department or college, please contact us at emeriti@uc.edu or follow the links provided. And Thank You!

New Emeriti Association Scholarship: Supporting 1st Generation Students

The twenty-one members of the Board of the Emeriti Association have pledged $50,000, the necessary minimum amount required, to establish an endowed fund for the Emeriti Association Scholarship for an underrepresented, first-generation undergraduate student at UC.

This is where you come in!

To present an annual scholarship of $5,000, we need an additional $75,000 for a total of $125,000.

We, the Board, ask you to partner with us over the next five years to create this scholarship.

WE'RE OFF TO A GREAT START!

As of the end of April 2022, the market value of the fund was $12,870.89 (up from $12,152.27 as of February 28, 2022).

THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO CONTRIBUTE YOUR REQUIRED MINIMUM DISTRIBUTION EACH YEAR!

We have a window until December 2026 to reach $125,000 and begin to award a yearly $5000 scholarship.
