What I love most about UHP
I love how the UC honors program truly values each member and actively develops its students into scholars and leaders. The advisors and staff believe in every student’s ability to change the world for the better, creating a supportive network to guide you on your journey through college and to prepare for beyond.
Favorite honors experience
This year I completed my first self-designed honors experience, called Candles for Climate Awareness. The project gave me an outlet to reconnect with a creative passion I’ve neglected since entering college and a means to strengthen my relationships while spreading awareness about climate change. Reflecting on this experience, I realized how important creativity can be to all aspects of life, including my engineering career.
Best UC moment so far
There are so many amazing moments I’ve experienced since starting my journey at UC. My favorites would have to be the times I felt most connected to the campus community, during football games, presenting at UHP events, and even just walking from class to class (pre-Covid) and witnessing the liveliness of the UC community.
Advice: It’s okay to say “no”! Don’t be afraid to put yourself first and take care of your needs before others’. If you aren’t taking good care of yourself and your health, you won’t be able to help anyone else.
What's next?
I’m currently in the second half of my undergrad program in Biomedical Engineering, but I’m also in the CEAS ACCEND program that will allow me to also graduate with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since I’m on the device design track in my major, I plan to enter the medical device industry after graduating. I don’t know exactly what role I want to take, but I know that I want to make a positive difference in healthcare and sustainability.
