2pm-3pm: Tobacco Free Pop Up

7pm-8:30pm: Trivia Night

Location: Catskeller

Students will come to Catskeller and get a taste of one of our fall semester weekly events, Trivia Night. At this event, students can team up with other students, either people they know or they do not know previously and participate in a themed trivia competition with other teams. Free Nachos and prizes will be provided.

 

8pm-10pm: Jurassic Park, Movie

Location: TUC Cinema

Bring a blanket and watch a fun throw back outside. Free food and snacks!

10pm-12am: Singo with Food

Location: Center Court

Prizes and swag for those who win, stop by for free fun and food!

9am-12pm: Panhellenic Sisterhood Workshop (Initiated members only)

Location: TUC Great Hall

Educational program for all initiated sorority women to prepare for sorority recruitment.

 

12pm-2pm: Welcome Week Fruit Bar Dietitian Pop Up

Location: Marketpointe Dining Hall

Students will have the opportunity to interact with our registered dietitian and enjoy a fresh fruit bar inside their favorite Residential Dining locations. Students can ask nutrition questions, meal plan questions, and enjoy their favorite fruit alongside peers and campus dietitian.

 

12pm-2:00pm: Cash Cart

Location: West Campus/MainStreet

Take a ride in the Cash Cart for a chance to win prizes and test your financial literacy knowledge! Spot the cart on West Campus and jump in to win! 


6:30pm-8:30pm: Meet the Panhellenic Chapters

Location: Main Street, TUC Great Hall if it rains

Representatives from all 11 of our Panhellenic sororities will be around to meet new students and talk to them about sorority recruitment and what it's like to be a member of their organization.

7pm-9pm: Open Mic Night

Location: Catskellar

SALD Social Change staff would like to host an open mic in conjunction with Welcome Week to welcome students to campus in a fun, inspiring, and enlightening way. We will bring in a feature artist and a host/opener artist whose work speaks to social justice, identity, and culture/community and also open it up for students to sign up to perform.

 

9:30pm-12:00am: Drive In Movie

Location: Sigma Sigma Commons

Bring a blanket to Sigma Sigma for a free screening of a newly released movie. There will also be free food!

 

9pm-10pm: Residence Hall Floor Meetings

Location: Calhoun, Daniels, Morgens, Stratford Heights Buildings 6-15

Mandatory floor meeting while getting to know some of the new students in your building and on your floor. Make connections with the people you will see all the time!

 

10pm-12:00am: World Cup

Location: Wyler Field/Sheakley Athletics Center

Hit the ground running with some new friends. Form a team of two, pick a country, and live your dream of being an all star soccer player. Take aim and watch your shots soar through the air as you compete against world cup teams and the goalies.

 

12:30am-1:30am: Avengers Themed Trivia

Location: Sigma Sigma Commons

There will be Marvel Themed Prizes!

10am-11am: Mindfulness Walk in Burnet Woods

Location: Meet outside Langsam Library

Explore Burnett Woods while taking time to relax and reflect!

 

10am-12pm: Bienvenidos! Latino Student Welcome

Location: TUC Great Hall

"Bienvenidos" means Welcome in Spanish. Every year the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services hosts the Bienvenidos- Latino Student Welcome in the month of August. This is an event to welcome returning, incoming, and transfer students to campus. This event connects students with Latino cultural resources, organizations, and services on and off campus to enhance their student experience at UC. This event will also provide an opportunity for students to meet other students, and take part in community building and networking to help enhance their, navigation, transition and success at UC.  All are welcome!

Calling all generation brunchers! Join the UC Women’s Center, LGBTQ Center, and Ethnic Programs & Services for a morning of fun!

We will have therapy dogs and therapy mini horses as well as a dessert to handout to students. There will also be a tent with a wheel full of questions so students can answer and receive a prize.

 

1pm-3pm: Pop Up Street pops

Location:TUC Front Steps

Come by and get a free popsicle and enjoy free balloon art from our balloon artist.

 

1pm-4pm: Learning Commons Candy Resource Bar

Location: McMicken Commons

Come visit the Learning Commons Candy Resource Bar. Enjoy some candy and learn about our FREE student services like Peer Tutoring, MASS Center, Academic Coaching, Learning Communities, Success Skills Workshops, Academic Writing Center and more!

 

3:30pm-8:30pm: Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation

Location: TUC Atrium, TUC 300

The Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation will serve to welcome all incoming Graduate students to the University of Cincinnati. The event will feature an 'Information Session' with various resources offered by the University, a 'Welcome Reception' and a 'Mix and Mingle' session. The event is being co-sponsored by the Graduate School, the Division of Student Affairs and Graduate Student Government.

 

4:00pm-6:00pm: Who are We? MGC! Meet the Multicultural Greek Council

Location: McMicken Commons

Check out the fairly new Multicultural Greek Council and its member organizations. Learn about our mission, and get involved in other organizations we partner with. Get a tote bag, try some fun snacks, and get loads of information about other culture-based organizations and resources on campus."

 

4pm-5pm: Let’s Talk About Sex Baby

Location: TUC 400A

Salt-N-Pepa got it right with their song "Let's Talk About Sex" with key lines such as "people might misunderstand what we're tryin' to say, you know?" Plus, "let's talk about all the good things / And the bad things that may be..." Yes, sex does have good things and bad things, and it is important to talk about both aspects. Join the UC LGBTQ Center for an INCLUSIVE conversation about sex across gender identities and sexual orientations. Sponsored by the LGBTQ Center.

 

4pm-7pm: Campus Dining Services Welcome Event

Location: McMicken Commons

The Campus dining team will have samples and products available from the following campus retailers: Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Pepsi, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Taco Bell, and the Student Catering Program. There will be tents up and give-away prizes along with  outdoor activities like corn hole.

 

5pm-6pm: Fraternity & Sorority Life Parent Convocation

Location: TUC Great Hall

 

6pm-8pm: Rec Fest

Location: Campus Recreation Center

Join us for free food including popsicles, popcorn, smoothies, and trail mix. Challenge your friends on our inflatable obstacle course, tugga touchdown, gladiator joust, giant dart board, and archery in the gym. Other activities include Battleship in the pool, climbing wall, and more!

 

6pm-8pm: Navigators Green Man Twist Ice Cream Truck

Location: McMicken Commons

 

7pm-9pm: Bearcat Marching Band Season Preview Show

Location: Sheakley Lawn

The Bearcat Marching Band will perform portions of the football pregame and halftime shows as well as pep tunes.

 

8pm-11pm: Night at Nippert

Location: Nippert Field

Come hang out on Nippert Field and have fun playing large sized games, try out hamster balls, inflatables, and hang with friends!

 

8:30pm-11:30pm: Fried Oreos

Location: Sheakley Lawn

Enjoy the heavenly delight that is a deep fried oreo with your new friends. When you think an oreo couldn't get better think again as the oreo gets deep fried and topped with powdered sugar. Enjoy an oreo, play some sports, and repeat.

 

9pm-11pm: Residence Hall Floor Meetings

Location: CRC, Dabney, Scioto, Siddall, Stratford Heights Buildings 1-5/16-21

Mandatory floor meeting while getting to know some of the new students in your building and on your floor. Make connections with the people you will see all the time!

9am-12pm: Transfer T-Shirt Swap

Location: 320 University Pavilion

Are you a new transfer student looking for some UC swag? Stop by to hang out with the transfer students and grab a brand new UC shirt. All you have to do is bring a T-Shirt from your previous university to swap. Limited supplies; first come, first served.

 

10am-11am: Student Affairs Open House

Location: Various Offices on Campus, Steger Student Life Center

 

11am-12pm: ROAR Where’s My Class? (College Tour)

Location: TUC Steps

ROAR Tour Guides will be helping freshman/new students to the university walk through their class schedule and taking them on a tour of campus!

 

1-3pm: Bearcat Families Welcome Brunch

Location: Sheakley Lawn

We invite Bearcat Families to join us to celebrate their student's arrival at UC. As your student heads off for a full day of excitement, grab a bite to eat and mingle with fellow families before you depart for home.

 

11am-5pm: Science Extravaganza!

Location: MainStreet, outside of TUC

UC Chemcats wants you to join us for a great time that will blow your mind! We will be providing Chick-Fil-A nuggets for students who visit our table from noon-1pm, and we will be performing different student-interactive science experiments every hour from 1pm-4pm. Experiments include liquid nitrogen ice cream, Alka-Seltzer rockets, and elephant toothpaste. Students will also have an opportunity to enter for a chance to win a $10 Target gift card. We can’t wait to see you there!

10am-1pm: Life after UC: The Game!

Location: Outside of Quick Micks on the 3rd floor of TUC

Join the Money Management Task Force to play “Life after UC: The Game.” Do you have the money smarts to manage your money through the entire month? Learn about the importance of budgeting and ways you can save money. Stop by, try it out, and take home some prizes!

 

10am-11pm: Cincinnatus Welcome 1(Open to incoming Cincinnatus Scholars only)

Location: TUC Great Hall

The CCE welcomes new Cincinnnatus Scholars with an information session about scholarship and community service requirements. This is the first of two identical information sessions offered. Location: TUC Atrium, Great Hall, Great Hall Lobby

The CCE hosts a community service fair to help civic-minded students get a head start on community service! Stop by for a chance to meet dozens local non-profit organizations and sign up for community service opportunities. If you're a first year Cincinnatus scholar, you'll also attend one of the two Cincinnatus Welcome sessions the same day to learn more about your scholarship requirements. Questions? 11am-2pm: Consent Singo Bingo

Location: Catskeller

Singo Bingo is a mix of music and bingo -- but this time, focusing on songs that promote consent and healthy sexual relationships! Students will match up consensual song lyrics with the correct song title. We’ll talk through why each song emphasizes consent or a healthy, positive sexual experience. Winners will win giveaway prizes and light snacks will be available.

Every year, the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services hosts the Asian Student Welcome during the month of August. This event serves to welcome all of our students, especially our incoming and returning Asian students, for the upcoming academic year. At the welcome, students have an opportunity to network with other students, community partners, and University personnel in an atmosphere full of culture, music, fun, and free food!

 

12pm-2pm: Navigators Freshman Connect Picnic

Picnic for freshman students looking to connect and receive information about the Navigators.

 

12pm-3pm:Welcome to the University of Cincinnati Libraries

Location: Langsam Library

Stop by Langsam Library and grab a cookie and lemonade while you’re there.

2:00pm- 3:30pm: Taste of Market on Main (MoM)

Location: CRC East Plaza

2pm-4pm: Pop Up Ice Cream Truck

Location: TUC Front Steps

3pm-5pm: H20 Dodgeball Tournament

Location: Trabert Tennis Courts

Come out and show off your dodgeball skills! Teams of six will play in a double-elimination tournament to win Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards.

 

3pm-6pm: Akwaaba (Black Student Welcome)

Location: TUC Great Hall

Akwaaba, which is the Akan (Ghana) word for welcome, is a celebratory and informative time to introduce campus services, student organizations, and community resources to students, while providing a formal space for our "Center Kids" to reunite after their summer break! We kick off every school year by collaborating with over 50 campus and community organizations that are unique to the needs of Black college students. Whether you're looking to get involved on campus, finding a new place to worship, or finding a local barber or stylist...you will not want to miss Akwaaba!

Location: Sheakley Lawn

Come join our miniature soccer tournament and have a sno cone! Students interested in playing soccer will be divided into 4-6 mini teams to play, while spectators enjoy the game and a sno cone. Brackets will be set up to determine the winner of the Bearcat Cup. All skill levels are welcome.

3pm-5pm: Welcome Bash (Engineering Diplomats)

Location: Schneider Quad

The Engineering Diplomats are hosting a Welcome Bash for the incoming CQU students into CEAS. Join us to win prizes by playing fun carnival games. Prizes included cultural snacks from CAM international and items from our own UC bookstore!
