Spring 2012:
Covington Center City Action Plan In the spring quarter of 2012, civil engineering students completed work on the center city of Covington as a part of the Place Matters program theme of comprehensive community development. Engineering Teams completed projects for a floodwall and riverfront park, a bikeway network, a pedestrian bridge over the Licking River, Green Infrastructure proposals, Traffic Improvements on Pike Street, Bavarian Brewery Site improvements, 6th Street Greenway Park and living wall, and Green space and a parking garage for Mutter Gottes Church.

Winter 2012:
Covington Center City Action Plan In the winter quarter of 2012, civil engineering students and urban planning students continued work on the center city of Covington as a part of the Place Matters program theme of comprehensive community development. Covington suffers from significant physical, social, and economic disadvantages but remain important strategically to the viability of our urban center. The studio was invited to participate in the Covington Center City Action Plan by the city of Covington and in the process to participate with national and local urban development consultants. This effort, funded in part thorough a HUD liveability grant, aims for a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to community development. The students analyzed the area and conducted case study research on which they based urban framework , urban design and programming proposals. Fall 2011 urban planning, design framework proposals focused on five themes, Complete streets/great streets, Connectivity, Housing, Economic development and Public space. Winter 2012 studio work focused in on specific urban design, engineering, and programming proposals related to the previous themes.
