COVID-19 Updates:

Academic Writing Center

AWC Location

COVID-19 Announcement: In conjunction with the University of Cincinnati’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academic Writing Center has adjusted our methods of service to support students virtually. Despite this online environment, you can still talk with a tutor to make changes to your document, just like you would in an in-person session. We are still as committed as ever to helping UC students become stronger academic writers! We hope to see you online soon!

Located on the fourth floor of Langsam Library in room 401N, the Academic Writing Center provides UC students with free writing assistance. If you would like a trained writing tutor to help you get started on your writing assignment or review your writing, make an appointment or stop in during our drop-in hours. Learn more about the Academic Writing Center services below.

Summer Services at the AWC have ended.

The AWC will resume on August 31st for the Fall Semester.

Fall Service Hours:

10:00a - 8:00p

10:00a - 4:00p

AWC Online Tutoring Programs

The Academic Writing Center has two new online tutoring programs for students: AWC Online and AWC Tutor Feedback. These two programs are accessible for all UC students, so read below to see which one is best for you.

A student accesses the AWC online.

AWC Online allows students to video conference with AWC Tutors and work on their papers online and in real-time through WebEX.

If you are interested in conferencing with a tutor online, choose "AWC Online" as the reason when scheduling an AWC appointment. Also, please include "I want this to be an online appointment" in the appointment scheduling comment box to give us further notice.

After scheduling the appointment, you will be emailed a link to an online video conference room. At the time of your appointment, ensure that you are in the video conference room to discuss your writing with your tutor.

A student receives feedback online.

With AWC Tutor Feedback, you can submit essays of six pages or less, double-spaced, or three pages or less, single-spaced, and one of the AWC tutors will review it, respond with helpful feedback, and email your draft back to you within 48 hours.

Submissions will not be reviewed while the AWC is closed. Services will resume again on August 31st, 2020. Submit your essays via this submission form link. Our tutors will respond within 24-48 hours.
