Uptown Campus West Goes Wireless
Students returning to UC this fall can now access UCs Securewireless Internet service on Uptown Campus West. UC Information Technologies (UCIT) blanketed wireless coverage throughout the academic colleges, university offices and athletic facilities in the area bounded by Martin Luther King Drive, Jefferson Avenue and Calhoun Street and Clifton Avenue.
This project is part of a larger initiative to make the entire campus wireless. A main goal of the UC2019 strategic plan, UCIT plans to expand Securewireless to the entire campus by the end of 2012. In addition to Uptown Campus West buildings and offices, UCIT partnered with Campus Services to bring Securewireless to residence halls prior to the start of last school year.
UCIT is dedicated to meeting the technology needs of our faculty, staff and students, said Dr. Nelson C. Vincent, Interim VP Information Technology & CIO. A secure, fast and convenient wireless Internet connection gives them the flexibility to make their education and work mobile to fit their lifestyles.
Students can set up Securewireless on their computers before they get to campus. Visit UCITs website at www.uc.edu/ucit and click on the Quick Link Securewireless for one-click scripts and detailed instructions. For additional help, call the Help Desk at 556-HELP (4537), or bring your computer to the ResNet desk inside the Mobile Cats Wireless store on MainStreet where a free, drop-off service is provided.
