Give a pint of hope this St. Patrick’s Day with Hoxworth Blood Center
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati isn’t promising blood donors a pot of gold, but the local blood bank is offering a limited-edition t-shirt in exchange for a lifesaving blood donation leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.
Donors who roll up a sleeve at a Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Center through March 17 will receive a limited-edition St. Patrick’s Day-themed t-shirt.
“As the only steward of the local blood supply, Hoxworth needs at least 400 individuals to donate blood every day to support local patients,” said Alecia Lipton, director of public relations at Hoxworth Blood Center. “This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re inviting all eligible donors to give a pint of hope and share their wealth of good health to someone in need in our community.”
Hoxworth serves over 30 hospitals in the Tri-State area, according to Lipton, and donors are always needed—because “it’s the blood that is on the shelf that will be used to save lives in an emergency.”
Masks are required at all Hoxworth locations in accordance with local mandates. Hoxworth staff will be following all CDC guidelines, including changing gloves between each donor and sanitizing all shared surfaces at regular intervals.
Appointments for blood donation are highly encouraged at this time to manage donor flow and follow social distancing guidelines. Donors can schedule appointments by calling (513) 451-0910 or by scheduling online at www.hoxworth.org.
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati was founded in 1938 and serves over 30 hospitals and medical facilities in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Hoxworth collects blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center: Saving Lives Close to Home.
