World Voice Day is observed on Friday, April 16, 2021 and Rebecca Howell, MD, associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the UC College of Medicine is one of the experts involved with a symposium being put on by UC Health in partnership with the Cincinnati Opera and UC.
"World Voice Day is a celebration, it happens every year on April 16, where we all celebrate in various different ways any professional voice and forms of communication," Howell said.
"This year, given the pandemic, it particularly warms the heart and gives us this way we can connect virtually."
Howell also said the pandemic has pointed out the communication challenges society has faced with the need to wear masks.
UC Health is presenting a World Voice Day symposium from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 16th.
"You're going to hear from people from all over Cincinnati, all of my voice lovers," Howell said. "You'll hear from speech language pathologists, voice therapists, vocal coaches and performers. We are blessed to have a listening party from two of our opera singers. Anybody who has a voice will appreciate this."
