Bankrate: Architectural engineering ranks as most valuable degree

Bankrate’s latest rankings of the most valuable college degrees puts architectural engineering on top, but only two dozen accredited degree programs exist in the U.S.
The University of Cincinnati launched an architectural engineering program in 2015 at the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
In an article on the rankings, Bankrate talked to Richard Miller, professor and head of UC’s Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management, about the major that focuses on the science of buildings.
Miller said architectural engineering blends structural and civil engineering with mechanical and electrical engineering — and graduates are in high demand.
“If you want to hire one of our students, if you’re not interviewing them now, chances are you’re not going to be able to hire them when they graduate in April,” Miller told Bankrate.
To determine the rankings, Bankrate looked at median incomes and unemployment rates based on specific bachelor’s degrees. Various engineering majors claimed eight of the top 10 spots on the list.

Dr. Liran Oren is leading a research team at the University of Cincinnati developing a VortexPAP machine that takes advantage of vortex airflow technology. A preliminary clinical study with current CPAP users demonstrated that the VortexPAP can deliver the pressure levels that are used in the subjects’ CPAP therapy, but the mask is more comfortable to wear. It has a minimalistic design that is less intrusive and barely touches the patient’s face.
