WCPO: Voter registration first step to voting
You have to be registered to vote, in order to vote, says UC expert
Even though it's easy for voters to register in Ohio, voter registration is still the biggest hurdle to actually voting, says UC political scientist David Niven.
And for young people, he says, it’s the first step to starting a lifelong voter pattern.
Niven spoke to WCPO just before registration closed for Cincinnati elections, expressing that many people also don’t bother to vote in local elections, when those are the elections that are most impactful to everyday life, such as whether the roads get paved.
Deadline for all voter registration options is 30 days prior to an election.
