See and hear Faculty All Stars in CCM Philharmonia concert this Friday
CCMONSTAGE Orchestra Series presents a showcase of CCM faculty and student artists on Nov. 12
The CCMONSTAGE Orchestra Series presents the musical talents of faculty and student artists in the CCM Philharmonia’s Faculty All Stars concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at Patricia Corbett Theater. Tickets are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.
The performance features faculty artists Michael Chertock, piano; Michael Mergen, trumpet; and Catharine Lees, viola, and is conducted by CCM Division Head of Ensembles and Conducting Kevin Michael Holzman with music direction by CCM Director of Orchestra Studies Mark Gibson.
The evening showcases a program of challenging virtuosity and creativity, opening with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concert No. 1, Op. 35 (1933). The concert continues with Para Viola y Orquesta (1994) by Tania León, who won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music. The performance culminates with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 102 in B-flat Major (1794).
